Default Brakelight switch

Hi there all:

I need to adjust the microswitch or switch that regulates the sensitivity of the braklights when I step on the brakes. Right now...even at a dead stop I have to press down on the brake pedal real hard before the lights go on. Where is this switch located so I can adjust the sensitivity to have it activate the brakelights instantly???

Thanks,,cabdriver - '88 911 cab

I don't think yours has adjustable switches, they should be on the master cylinder. They either work, work poorly like you are describing, or they don't work at all. They are pressure switches, and screw right into the m/c.

Usually this problem is cured by replacing the pair of brake switches on the brake master cylinder. This issue was discussed regarding an SC, but I think that your car uses 2-pole (terminal) switches, rather than the 3-pole switches on the SC. Be sure to call your dealer to find out the correct part number...
