Lightbulb steering lock up

my steering wheel has been locking up - very disconcerting at speed. the mechanic that services the car has changed the steering rack - that didn't fix it - anyone else having this intermittent problem? almost feels like the ignition steering lock has engaged itself. 1975 911. thanks, Mark

Hi Mark,
My '78 SC has a clunking sound when I turn the steering wheel
real fast at rest. I know there are u-joints in the steering column, but I would think if they were the problem, yours would stay locked.

i will check that out. the binding is only temporary, and i havent figured out what causes it, ie: wheel alignment, etc. when it happens it scares the cr#p out of me so badly, that my only concern is not crashing, not what happened!!
