Exclamation Moving the clutch lever pivot ball

Moving the clutch lever pivot ball:
This is a question about the Mg cased 911 transmissions ("901"), not the 915's. I'm trying to convert it from push to pull clutch configuration. To do that, you have to move the pivot ball over so the pull type clutch arm will fit thru the hole in the housing.

Here is the problem:
When you do that, there doesn't seem to be enough thickness of material to accomodate a timesert.

One option is just try to thread the Mg case itself. Since I agree with Bruce Anderson's characterization of MG as "congealed butter" this scares me. Anyone know that it will hold up if I do this and don't use a timesert?

Or I can drill a bigger hole and use an EZsert - are they better than Timeserts?

Or maybe a backing plate could be put on the differential side? There is some clearance in there.... I don't have the capability to weld Mg and getting someone else to do it might cost so much that I can't afford it.

I know some people have converted these trannys -- how did you do it?

I just want it to last 20 years and then I'll be too old to drive or dead....
