How to tell if 88 Carrera has original engine

If I'm not mistaken, an 88 US Carrera will have an engine number of 64J0001 and greater. The engine number is located on a vertical tab at the right hand base of the fan shroud, on the engine.

PM me your VIN and I'll run it through porsche and give you your engine # it left the factory with.. you can compare the one I give you to the one in the location that Bill has specified.
