Early 911 fender question...locator pins?
Pulled the fenders off of my '67 911 this weekend and discovered something new or at least new to me. The fenders had two locator pins along with the standard fender screws and washers.
I've had the fenders off of a '69 911 and newer cars and never seen these pins.
Do any of you folks know the time span that these pins were used?
Also had to laugh that the added weights in the bumper (another early 911 feature) are only held in place by the pressure of the bumper mounts and a bracket. No actual srews, bolts, etc. Just a tight fit. Seems a bit sketchy when you think of 60+ lbs. of cast iron bouncing down the road at 100+ mph.
