Re-wiring 911SC

Hello,
Does anyone out there know of any good & SIMPLE auto textbooks that explain how to rewire and upgrade basic major systems (headlights, starter, fusboxes)without making a complete fire-hazard mess out of everything? I've managed to rebuild almost everything mechanical on my '81 911SC, but when it comes to even simple electrical stuff, I'm at a complete loss. Also, if anyone knows of a dealer who specializes in selling upgraded parts & wires specific to Porsche battery/charging systems, please let me know.
Thanks!

Hi
I start by studying the factory wiring diagrams. They are compicated for me because I am more mechanical myself. But after looking at them for several days or weeks I begin to get them. Then I can do what I need to do. You could go to a bookstore and look for some books on wiring stuff.
good luck

Here's a link to an article that talks about electrical light wiring considerations:

Psears,
Instead of doing it piecemeal, how about finding a wiring harness from a newer 911 in a wrecking yard and putting it into the area where your wires are showing their age?
Many of the wiring harness's have not changed that much over the years and can be modified to fit many of the cars. I have done this many times over the years with various cars and usually grab part of a harness from a wrecked car and keep it in the garage. Most places will sell these for a reasonable price.
The next time I need to add/modify/repair the wiring on my 911 I have the same size, color(s) and such wire on hand and use this to maintain the factory look. Nothing look worse to see wiring in a car that has been changed with "zip" house cord, pep boys generic wiring or such and when you are troubleshooting you have no idea what you are working with.
Just a thought...
