Question Rough steering Feel

I have noticed some roughness, almost like the rubbing of sandpaper, in the steering on my '88 911 Carrera. Any thoughts as to what may be causing this and any possible solutions?

Appreciate the help.

Try lubricating the u-joints in the steering shaft (between the wheel and the rack). This is fairly common.

There are two u-joints, one is in the smugglers box and is easy to reach. The other is near the master cylinder and you will need to remove part of the ventilation system to get access. Do the smuggler box one first and see if that solves your problem.

Shoot a little oil into the joints. I'll bet this works.
