Default 89 Roadster vs 993

I have found an 89 Roadster in great shape. I currently own a 96 993. Cannot own both. I am not in a rush. Does anyone have any thoughts or can you direct me to reviews and critiques of the 89 Roadster? She is a beauty.

speedsters are awesome, they will always have a better resale value than a 993, but the 993 is a better car. the top is really only to keep the sun of the leather so its far from anything rain worthy. hmmmm cant keep both?..........did I ask if you could keep both? Tough decision, I would lean towards the Speedster though as i like the looks and rarity, plus its money better spent. A little quirker of a drive but if it wasn't it wouldn't be a Porsche

I have a client with an 89 targa and a 96 C2S. I swear everytime I talk to him he is praising the 89's handling and criticising the 96's steering and suspension.

Well, the stock suspension on a US 993 is lousy, but can easily be upgraded with Bilstein HD's and H&R lowering springs (or other options). Then the 993 has a far superior setup (particularly the multi-link rear). However, the steering really is better in the Speedster - I always prefer unassisted rack & pinion if the car is light enough. One can retrofit the 964 RS America manual rack to the 993, but the car is on the verge of being too heavy (and tires too wide) to make good use of it. Or, you could put in a power 964 rack which has a quicker ratio (like the 993RS), but there still is not the feedback found in a manual rack.
