Question Chain Covers

Hi, I need to remove the chain covers on an 84 3.2 I have everything off, out of the way except for one item, the 1" or so oil line that goes under the engine from the engine mounted oil cooler then wraps around the face of the right side chain cover. It then runs along the inner fender well up under the right side rocker panel to the oil cooler in front. My question is, can the right side cover be removed without removing this oil line, is there supposed to be enough play in the line to squeeze the cover out of the way. I have to check the tensioners, started having the dragging chain noise, it is in the right side. Also, if you had to replace the right side tensioner, would it not be wise to replace the left, being it has had the same life as the right? Engine has about 60,000 miles on it. Thanks.
