Default High Oil Pressure

Hi all,

I have a 2.0 liter 1966 911 and am having an issue with high oil pressure. The oil temp takes a very long time to come up to temp, about 20 minutes of easy driving in the 90 degree georgia heat!!! The oil temp gets to maybe 145 or so but will warm up a little more as you sit in traffic.. When the oil is cool the oil pressure will rise to 100psi (at about 4500 rpm's) then fall off, I believe the oil pressure relief valve opening?? I do not run it up there when cold but noticed it the other day after I had been driving for about 20 minutes and was shifting around 4500-5000 rpms and wanted to find out what the cause may be. thank you.

Default high oil pressure

Hi all,

To clarify the post a bit:

I believe the problem is a bad oil thermostat, not closing to allow sufficient oil temp to build. Has anyone had experience with a similar situation. I believe if the oil temp would rise, or when it does finally reach temp, that the pressure problem is non existant. any tips would be appreciated. thanks in advance.
