Post Replating brake calipers

Anyone tried replating the cast iron calipers? Seems that muriatic acid cleans them great, but leaves them bare. Could get them replated in zinc with an irridescent gold finish for around $25/caliper. Has anyone tried this? Does anyone know whether it would be o.k. to plate the bores, or whether they need to be masked off? This is without separating the caliper halves, I'm thinking.

Thank you.

Tom, I have an 88 that I painted the caliper with an epoxy that I purchased from performance products. I call my brakes the $50.00 big reds. I have been very pleased with the way the paint has held up at the track. I installed the brake duct system and the red paint rather than the $2,500.00 for big reds. I figured if my brakes did not hold up then I could always buy the expensive setup.
