Default Tires for a Carrera Cab?

I just bought an extra set of 16" fuchs wheels for my '87 Carrera Cabriolet (16x7 front and 16x8 rear) and was wondering what tires to put on them. This car is mainly a street car, but I do get to 3 or 4 autocrosses and/or short track events per year.
My original wheels (15x7 and 15x8 fuchs) have Michelins on them and the car seems to be a little difficult to control at the track (the tail end comes around a little too easily).
The suspension has been modified with heavier torsion bars (If I remember correctly 23mm front and 31mm rear) and Bilstein shocks (Sports front and Heavy duty rear).
I have been looking at Yokohama AVS ES100's and AO32R's, as well as Kumho Victoracers.
Any input or experience with these or other tires would be greatly appreciated

I've been happy with my Yokohamas AVS Sports - good in the rain - good grip on the track (autocross and several DE's) they are very preditable and make lots of noise before they let go (I like that!)

Same car - 1987 Cabriolet 225/50/16's and 245/45/16's on 8 & 9's

I have the AVS Es 100's on my M3. I would never buy them again. They are howling/groaning bad enough to create a harmonic vibration inside the car. They only have 11,000 miles on them.

So far, they say they will replace them under warranty.

RandleJ, glad to hear that, I just bought a set on Tirerack about two hours ago. Since my car is used mainly for weekend and track hopefully this won't be an issue. Especially since I got about 2,000 miles out of my last set of rears (AVS Intermediates). That was mostly track miles though.
