Question 82 911 sc wipers not working, any clues?

I just picked up a a pretty cherry 82 911sc Targa but I have a problem with the windshield wipers. The fuse is fine but the wipers do not work. I checked for power with the ignition on and the wiper on 1, 2, 3 and there is power in and out of the fuse. The previous owner ( 2nd owner ) said he,d never driven the car in the rain and can't remember if he ever used the wipers. Anyone have a hints for me ?

It's likely in the switching unit behind the steering wheel. They are made of white plastic. The contacts build up corrosion and don't allow current to pass through. Probably will need to be replaced. The part runs about $175.00 from the dealer. This is common.
Old SCs are great cars. Enjoy!

Good luck.

I know you can reach the contacts on the headlight switch, and am 90% sure you can on the wiper one too, but it's been a long time since I had the wiper side off. check it out before you buy a new switch. Also check the plug behind the instrument panel where the swith harness plugs in.

Shop around for price,if you find you do need a switch.
