I recently bought a 74 Carrera in Germany. Before shipping the car to my home in Amsterdam, I had the LSD rebuilt. When the car was put back together, the transmission drain plug was replaced with the conical plug used on the 911SC 915s instead of the normal hex-head also used for the engine oil drain plug.
I assume this is fine, but I'd love confirmation.
The reason I ask is that the plug is leaking quite a bit with new transmission oil now coating everything from the drain plug back. You can easily see this is new as all the oil is wet and mostly clear (I.e. new oil).
It's fine. I would remove your plug, check that the threads of the plug and its bore are clean and in good condition. Reinstall and torque to 24 Nm, no more.
In my experience that style is used on fill hole not drain possibly not tightened adequately or god forbid thread pitch off , I would remove and install normal drain plug ,particularly if out of car if not find a 16 mm Allen and tighten gradually , just my .02 cents , Bert
