Power seat switch- need help w/ part #
The front switch that activates my power driver's seat is broken so I bought a replacement switch. The new switch plate (that you actually push to adjust) has four arrow heads on it one pointing up, down, left and right. However my seat has two switches- the front one is for front/back adjustment (horizontal) with arrows pointing left and right and the rear one is for up/down adjustment (has arrows pointing up and down). I spoke to the dealer who sold me the part who claims that is the only part # that is listed for my '87 911 cab. He said he could help if I had teh part # of my existing switch but its still in the car and (I think) requires removing the seat to get it out. Can anyone save me the trouble of taking the exisiting switch out to find the part # of the bad part (or render any other assistance)?
TIA if you can - spring is here at last!

Hey Dan,
I replaced the power seat switches on my cab as well. My dealer gave me the switches that have two arrows on them, not four. I wonder if the four-arrow switches are for the four-way adjustable power seats..??, which was an upgrade option back then.
In any case, 928-613-181-00 ($51.02) was the part number for my seat switch. I had the receipt in my car. I hope that helps!

Thanks Dan,
I'll check that part # against the one I have.
Was I right in assuming the seat has to come out to do the repair?- Did you have to solder the wires or are they solderless connections? - they look like solderless ones on the new one I have.
Thanks again Cabby!

Dan,
I initially resisted the urge to remove the seat when I replaced my switch. After struggling for an hour, I removed the seat (just unbolted it to tilt it enough to reach underneath actually) and immediately wished I had done that in the first place. No soldering required, easy DIY. Just need the allen wrench to loosen the seat, some pliers to cut the tie wraps holding the old wire in place, and some tie wraps to hold the new one in.
Pelican parts has both kind of switches here <a href="http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/911M/por_911M_electr_main.htm" target="_blank">Pelican Catalog Swtiches Page </a>. I think the part you need is Pelican Part # F-613-181-00.

Defenitely remove the seat to do it. It's not a big deal, just be sure not to strip the allen bolt when removing, that can be a hassle.
It's also easier to do it with your top down, it makes it easier to lift the 50 pound seat with the extra room to work! They weigh a ton!
Have fun!
