Default '68 912 to later 911 susp/brakes: advice?

Hello all. I've just joined your list and am looking for opinions and perhaps parts in upgrading my car. I just got a rust-free '68 912 coupe with a '76 2.7 CIS motor with 901 5spd in it. It has way too much power for those tiny unvented rotors. I intend to upgrade it with later (mid '70's?) 911 struts, control arms (to get rid of the older ball-joint), and brakes. My understanding is that I should be able to just bolt all this in. Any comments on the best parts to use (SC vs Carrera?) and how they will fit?
For the rears, I've been told by one person that I should be able to bolt any 911 rear rotor/caliper combo up to '78 or so right on to the '68 hub with no problems. Someone else told me I could only use the '66-'68 911 vented rears as a direct bolt-on. I'd like to use SC or Carrera parts. Any comments from someone who's done this conversion?
Thanks for any help,

Mark
