7 & 8s or 7 & 9s Fuchs will be found on many SC/Carreras used for track events. Normal tire combination may be 225/245 - a few have used 245/275 on 8s and 9s. I had only minor rubbing on the left front with 225/245 combination, before some persuasion was applied.

Most people with 7s in the front have rubbing issues if they use 225 tires unless you use 7s from a 944/951. I have 7s and 8's and have had slight rubbing problems with 205s on the front, but my car is lowered and it only happened on the track (Had to roll the left front fender with the handle to a hammer). For the street, you should be fine. The issue with these cars is that they are not exactly the same since they were all hand built. As such, many have rubbing issues, but it is largely confined to the left front.

Good luck.

Yup

As Alan mentioned the left front is where the most common issues are, I removed most of the front lips along time ago to alleviate that issue.

In order of increasing fitment difficulty
205/55, 225/45, 225/50

unless you use 7s from a 944/951
The difference between 944 7 and 911 7 is in the shape of the back of the paddles, the 944 7 has a little more room for brake clearance. Otherwise they sahare width and o/s and so will fit the chassis exactly the same

Default Fuch wheels

Has anyone ever had the back side of 911 wheels machined to provide the additional clearance like 944 wheels?

225/50-16 on 7" front & 245/45-16 on 9" rear (all 911. part numbers) at Euro height ('87 coupe), very light rub on left front at full lock hard turns. It is more likely the heavyweight driver instead of a different in right to left build. Fender rolling will 'cure' the rub.

Default As you wish,

Stock tire sizes on 7" + 8" about 1" below euro all around. Drivers side front fender rolled. That's it.

Drew,

With Bridgestone RE 750's on 7's (205's) & 8's (225's) on lowered 81, no rubbing at all. When I bought my car it had Dunlop SP 8000's which did rub occasionally at the left front. Wonder how much difference (if any) is there in various manufacturers' tires of the same size?

There can be a lot, compounded by the different shoulder profiles and the carcass stretch due to different rim widths
