I am looking at an exhaust for a 3.2
I cannot afford SSI's
What is the diference between a pre muffler
and a cat by-pass ?
What would be my best choice for performance
and sound ?
Thanks
Chuck

Cat bypass is simply a straight through pipe. A pre-muffler is like a resonator / muffler.

It's believed that the premuff is superior. Make sure you get one with the O2 bung.

I have a Dansk Euro Pre-muff and Dansk 70mm Sport Muffler and would do it again in a heartbeat. Euro Pre-muff has the bung for the O2 and looks like it could be a cat to the untrained eye.

Hi Chuck.
I just put on a by-pass pipe on my 3.0 SC yesterday. The car is now 13 lbs lighter and the sound is slightly louder. Barely noticable. Appears to have better throttle response. I'm still tweaking the fuel/air mixture as with the change the engine was running too rich.
