Default Second gear problem

Hi guys, I've had this problem with my car for quite some time. Basically, the stick gets stuck for 1/2 a second when upshifting from first to second. I'll rev up to 4000rpm or so in 1st then clutch and pull down to 2nd but right at the bottom of the throw, just before engaging, it sticks for a second and I lose momentum. It really sucks! I have no problem downshifting from 3rd to 2nd though. No amount of force or speed of shifting helps. At certain rare times it will drop nicely but not often. It's very strange. Second gear synchro worn perhaps? I think that because it would explain the occassional time that it does work (shifting with revs matching)

Any opinions??

Thanks,

Nix

I have the exact same problem. Really annoying at times. No grinding.

I always figured it was the synchros, and I've just lived with it.

Seems that it's a fairly common problem with our transmission. The "workaround" I've found is to clutch and shift into 2nd without lifting your foot off the gas thereby keeping the revs as close as possible between gears. I was practicing it a bit last night and it worked quite well!
