Default 1987 Transmission Fluid Fill Plug Size

I have always read that 915 transaxle uses a 17 mm plug for the fill and drain and the G50 uses a 10 mm. I know my car has a 10mm plugs for both. I ordered both in anticipation of doing a trans fluid replacement. They only lists one for the the fill plug so I ordered it. When I received them the drain is 10 mm and the fill is 17 mm.Is this correct? The description in the Pelican site doesn't specify size.

Anyone has an idea if this is correct or if both plugs supposed to be 10 mm? I gave my mechanic the drain plug but not the fill.

And yes I was going to do it myself but could not get the drain plug off and I went ahead and ordered replacement plugs just in case they got stripped and gave it to the mechanic just in case he has to take a torch to it to heat it up.

i have little doubt your mechanic will be able to get them out so no issues.

944 was notorious for this. I think it uses the same transmission but mounted inverted. . Anyway i eventually just tacked in the bolt head and double nutted it to remove... i ended up leaving it and sold it like that ... lol.. next guy just needs a wench. plus i didn't torque it up to 1 million foot/ pounds

As anticipated, my mechanic was able to get the drain plug off and perform the fluid replacement. He used the drain plug I supplied and reused the fill plug.

I had asked him to take a picture of the drain plug as I was curious to see how much metal shavings were on the magnet. It actually didn't look too bad after 13 years.

I can tell the difference when going to 1st gear before the car warms up...smooth!
