Default Euro spec '79 SC and emissions/titling

I'm looking at a Euro spec '79 SC and am wondering if anyone has dealt with trying to get one of these to meet emissions. I'm in St. Louis, MO and the car is about 2 hours away, in Illinois.

But, AFAIK, there are no emissions requirements in Central IL, so the car has not likely ever been tested.

The test is OBD II, per GatewayCleanAir.Com .

Also, I know insurance and financing are problems on grey market cars - I'm planning on self-financing, but what about insurance.

Oh, yeah - one more thing, is Carfax/Autocheck available for a car that age, and with the old "911..." VIN's?

Thanks in advance,

Craig

Craig,

Your Euro spec '79 should be fitted with the air injection system (although in the UK this is often blocked off to give a little more power).

My '76 car spits out CO which are < 1% both at idle and fast idle. CO2 < 14%, hydrocarbons < 77 ppm with a Lamda figure of about 1.0.

The '79 system should at least equal if not better this.
