Default 1985 911 3.2 Rough cold start

Hi folks -

I recently purchased a 1985 911 Targa and it suffers from a rough cold start issue. I posted a video to youtube to show what happens... on cold start it will flutter between high and low revs. The video I took isn't the worst it will be... sometimes it flutters bad enough to stall the engine. After warming up the car will idle at a consistent, reasonable rev level.

I do believe that the vehicle has a Steve Wong chip installed, but haven't been able to verify that yet.

Any ideas what might be causing this issue? I was considering taking it to a local tuning shop to see if they could diagnose/fix the problem.

Thanks in advance for any help!

maybe lean when first started, I would try a smoke test first to make sure that the intake is tightly sealed. There are many other things but but lean when cold would cause it

hunting is caused by rich condition. I know many disconnect the o2 sensor altogether.. have you tried a new O2 sensor ? i would ask on Pelican.

That's been known to cause the problem you describe! A number of my Porsche independent repair shops have had this problem with customers' 911 3.2s.
Once I've provided a stock chip, the problem was resolved.

Great, thank you all for the insight! This is a bit out of my wheelhouse to formally fix myself so will likely end up at the shop.
