Default Dipstick down the drain

1987 911, first oil change under my watch. I didn't have my glasses on and miss aligned the dip stick which fell into the bottom of the reservoir. Help, I tried a coat hanger, I can still see the handle.

Don't worry about it, happens a lot. Wouldn't surprise me if there are a couple more already down there.

If you can see it, you may have better luck with one of those grappler tools. It's not magnetic, so you have to snag it.

If you can't get it, just buy another and move on.

Wouldn't you know that's exactly what happened to mine. When I turn the ignition on the oil level gauge immediately pegs. How hard is removing the tank? I'm unable to snapper grab it out.

dont remove the tank. try removing the sender for the oil level and if you can fish it out there, or at least get it out of the way

Default Oil dipstick

I did the same thing a few years ago.
I used a fish hook extractor to snag it. I still have it in my toolbox.
