Default 3.0 Euro Fuel Distributor Air Sensor P/N, any Experts?

HI everyone. I've been away a long time - life. Back deep into the rebuild of my '77 Ducktail with what was a Frankenstein engine. Was told it was a '80 3.0 with Euro 9.8 CR , I have to admit the car was quite fun but goofy things started to happen. Did a leak down and there it was - bad rings in 4 of 6 cylinders, etc. etc.

Dropped engine and sent heads and pistons sets to our go to guy Bob in San Antonio along with the gearbox and had all the valves doe, replace what was necessary, rebuilt the 915 etc., didn't change gearing. Both good as new. On to the top. New injectors, air box, fuel lines, etc. etc. AND slapped in a 964 cam. That with the Euro 3.0 should be awesome (per Wayne Dempsey build your engine book). Build is 99% done, but I have 2 sticking points I'm looking for the rennlist nation to comment on:
1) I learned the previous build cut corners - Previous builder put a 0 439 100 006 Fuel Distributor and matching 0 438 120 149 004 Air Flow Sensor Plate (for a 74-77 2.7S), but the bottom build is actually a Euro 3.0SC which should take a 0 438 120 120 143 (150Kw years 80-83 Euro 3.0SC, matching air flow plate of course. Conveniently I do have a US 3.0 SC FD and Air Plate numbers 0 438 100 077 and 0 438 120 149. I understand the above is a mouthful - bottom line is - what happens If I use the US 3.0SC FD parts on my EURO 3.0 9.8 CR bottom with a 964 Cam? Do I have to track down the Euro specific FD parts for what I am building.
2) I am now having a bit of buyer's remorse and am starting to regret not dropping $5,500 for PMO's (though that 964 CAM may not be the perfect choice)

I'm going to have a bad *** little canyon carver when it's done whatever I do, but since the engine is still out... now is the time. I know, it's a slippery slope.

Lastly, I still have "Blu" Riv Blue 993 Cab near perfect and my awesome 964 build so eventually this ducktail coupe will be sold.

WWRD? What would rennlisters do?
Thanks for any comments, opinions welcome.

I think the engine will run, but you may not be able to extract the full benefits of the Euro pistons and the 964 cams. Some of the CIS parts are interchangeable. Don't forget the warm up regulator (WUR), that is important as well.

One problem you may have is that 1980 US cylinder heads have small intake ports. The CIS system (air box and runners) from 1980 are also small-diameter. The Euro engines (and US 1978 and 1979 engines) have larger intake ports. So if you have small diameter intake components, I think that is also going to limit how much power you can make with the Euro pistons and the 964 cams.

This topic has come up when talking about the Supertec 3.1L conversions: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...cylinders.html

So I agree that the CIS gurus are on Pelican now, particularly Tony (boyt911SC). If you were to post a subject line similar to "CIS Components for Euro 3.0L Pistons/964 Cams" you'll likely get a bunch of responses.

Thanks everyone. I did talk to Pelican before posting this and didn't get much. Anyway, posting what I have found to memorialize for anyone in the future:

For a Euro 3.0SC made between 07/80-07/83 the Fuel Distributor is a Bosch 0-438-100-097 (Porsche 911.10.997 or 971)

I am working on matching the other parts for that FD and trying to determine if the -077 I have will work (though the tests I have done says it needs rebuild). In the end, the WUR, Aux Air, etc all need to be matching, though I do know some of the changes between the US and the Euro were simply because of... of course, emissions. Remarkable there is also an airbox that matches that.

I do have the large intake ports already, so I finally caught a break.

I meant Pelican Porsche help line/resource. I have since posted on Pelican 911 engine building forum and I am making progress now. Good tip, you are right. Deep knowledge there.

Thanks for everyone's input.

yeah you can hit the main forum too, more people watch that than the engine building forum.
