source for crankshaft sensor?
I have come to the conclusion that the crankshaft sensor is probably to blame for the hesitaion I've been experiencing in my 3.2 Carrera. I cannot seem to locate a source. Anyone have a suggestion?

Hi Dean:
Generally speaking, crank position sensors do not cause drivability issues. If you need a new one, the only source I'm aware of for those is the Dealer.
Now then, I would investigate other things before I replaced the CPS.
Make sure that:
1) The ignition system is perfect; plugs, wires, connectors, cap, & rotor.
2) Airflow meter stops are adjusted correctly.
3) Fuel injector spray patterns must be perfect. Change the fuel filter if you haven't.
4) Run 2 large bottles of Techron through it; one bottle per tank and drive it hard,...
5) Check the cylinder head temp sensor.
Good luck!

Thanks Steve
It has brand new plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter and O2 sensor. I'll try the Techron and check the Head temp sensor.
I inspected Cap and rotor, they look o.k. but I may replace just for peace of mind.

I went to check the head temp sensor as per my bentley manual and much to my surprise the sensor only has one wire unlike the one shown in the manual. Can anyone explain this? I did check it by hooking the second lead to ground, and it is within spec. Any futher suggestions, since it appears the head sensor is not the culprit?

Never Mind!
I think I found the problem, The cap and rotor looked good at a glance, but upon removal and inspection under good light there are signs of arcing. Both cap and rotor fail the ohm test. Hopefully this will cure the hesitation issue. I'll keep you posted. Steve, as always.....Thanks for you help.

New cap & rotor installed, problem solved!! It also solved the ticking noise that I always thought was some minor lifter noise.
Steve, thanks again for your response.
