Default ? What is this?

Need some help identifying this in a 78SC roller I purchased.
It is located in the engine compartment on the right (passenger) front side - just in front of the oil fill tube. Two hoses - one vacuum ( appears like the CIS factory tubing) and a long larger red hose ( almost the size of AC hose ). - I will try to attach a picture below ( first attempt at this - hope it works.)

I don't recall this in my previous 83 SC. Any ideas?

Thanks

Earl

Chrisp,

thanks , I was hoping it was something like this. I can ignore it when I install my 83 Sc engine.

What years had this 78-80? I am unfamiliar with it.

thanks again

I don;t know too many details about it. I am new to ennlist but a long time participant on the Pelican Parts BBS. There quite a bit of discussion about it over there. Search under "charcoal canister".
