My apologies if this has already been posted but here is a great video of a 1986 factory tour in Zuffenhausen. It really shows how "hand built" the 911 was back in the air cooled days. The Zuffenhausen production line has come a long way....

I did the factory delivery on my 1986 944 in early November of 1985. The factory tour was not available for some reason but I really enjoyed the museum and the executive dining room experience. During the next week we drove through seven countries. One particular day we crested a hill in Genoa and below a huge blue ocean liner was docked. I immediately recognized it as the Achille Lauro because it had been in the news for weeks after being hijacked by Islamic terrorists just a few weeks earlier. I drove down to the dock for pictures of my new car and the ship. European delivery was different then because it provided you a ten percent discount on the base price of your car instead of a costly option as nowadays. It covered the cost of a wonderful trip to Europe for my girlfriend and me riding in style.
