Default Brake question

I have a new to me 70' 911 'T' that I am putting 'S' calipers on in front and x-drilled rotors and race pads. I just found a little seeping from the Master cylinder so I am going to change that immediately! I know there are 17mm, 19mm, and 23mm Masters and possibly others too. What is the consensus on the 'ideal' size for a car being driven aggressively and at some time trial and hill climb type events? As a side note, an aggressive brake application showed that at slow speed the rear locked up very quickly and the front seemed it has nearly no stopping power (with the 'M' calipers still). I have yet to really dig into the system but perhapts the Master has air in the front circuit? Thanks all!

"Regular" Joe:

The 19mm MC is the proper one to use with those brakes. MC volume and capacity need to be matched to brake caliper volumes and number of pistons.

If you ever upgrade to large 4-piston calipers, then you should use the 23mm MC.

Replace the lines, flush the brakes and you'll be OK,....

Steve... I will need to do brakes on my 74 911 with S Calipers. I will most likely want to replace the MC and was wondering if I can purchase a 23mm to run on the S calipers until I upgrade to larger 4 pistons???

Just curious.

Thx

The 23 w/ regular brakes will require and exceptional amount of effort to be applied by you leg. Not a good idea.

Uber:

Bill V. offered you very sound advice; the 23mm MC is much too big for the stock 2-piston calipers. Stick with a 19mm one until you are ready for big brakes.

FYI,.... I supply a new 23mm MC with ALL of my big brake kits,....its included.
