Default 911 engine id

I'm looking to buy a 1970 T and the seller says it's a 150-160 hp engine.

Maybe it's been built up. The numbers on the case read 901 101 102r.

Is this a part number for the case. If not, where is the id so I can look up the engine?

THANKS?

Its a little hard to see, but the engine number is stamped sort of behind the oil pressure sending unit to the right of the shroud. Bruce Andersons 911 handbook shows the location, and has a listing of all the engine types
with descriptions. 165 HP for a stock 911T is not correct.

T's were the baseline engines from what I understand.

Greg is correct that if it's a stock engine, it's not in the 150-165 range.

Greg,

from 1969 tho' to 1971 the stock 'T' produced only 125 bhp, the 'E' 155 and the 'S' 180. Mid 1971 this increased to 130, 165 and 190 respectively.

Hope this helps.
