993 wheels do not have the correct offset. There are many aftermarket wheels made with correct et that in many cases look better than stock wheels. I have a set of 18" three piece centerlines by RH. Many great tires for this size rim. They are 8" and 9". Fit great look even better. These would not be good for driving events, AX, DE, etc. fit to tight in the wheelwells. I use 17" wheels w/Kohmo tires for driving events.

Can somebody out there advise me what the correct off-set would be if I were to upgrade to 17" and the tyre sizes. Please also advise exact wheel and tyre size. I get utterly confused looking at the variety available (17x7 or 17x7.5 ....etc). I was advised that with 17", my front remains at 205 but the rear tyre should be 255 (currently 225 with the 16" fuchs). Help !!!

Tongel, It sounds like you just want the wheels for looks, Speak to a vendor for specifics but a 7x17 ~+24mm os w/ 205/50x17 for the front and a 9x17 ~15mm o/s w/ 255/40x17 would be a fairly safe fitment for you.

A list of vendors
Kinesis
Wheel Enhancement
Fikse

There are many more do some research

Bigger can be fitted but they are more for the die hards who are willling to go through a lot of extra work and expense to get them to fit.

Bill, thanks for info. Actually, I was thinking of upgrading to 17" in order to try out some tyres that only come with 17" and above, eg Russos and the new Pilot Sports. Of course, I also want to make sure that they look great. I haven't quite made up my mind yet 'cos the car does look very good with Fuchs. If the newer tyres come in 16", I would not even think about changing the wheels.

From a performance perspective the same tire in a lower profile 17 will be superior to its stablemate in 16.

The same can be said for wider wheels.
