dealer costs were simalr quote for my 80 cab (manual top) - had it done for $2,500 privately about 4 years ago - looks great, it has held up well with light use - a %90% - 95% job (slight crease in plastic window).

you might think about asking around - your local PCA might have some suggestions...

$6-$7K ???

That's a scam. There is nobody charging more than $2500. Call around. The top can be acquired on-line for between $500 & $750. The labor done by a reputible shop should cost around $1000.

I just contacted this company about my 87 cab top. Here is the e-mail response I got:

"Yes we have the cmplete top assembly with plastic window for 911 Carrera 2 and Carrera 4 Cabriolet
in German canvas for$4.25.00 + shiiping and handling.$395.00 Made of Domestic Canvas."

Thank you

Vahe

I know that most of the cost is labour.....................but that much $$ seams pricey.

The dealer's quote is out of line. You don't say where you're located but prices for installation vary by area. The key is to find someone in your area that is knowledgeable and has experience with Porsche tops. As for buying the tops themselves I had a great experience with these guys
