I need to replace the two 12 Volt batteries in my 1971 911T that fit in small boxes behind the headlights. Would anyone have a recommendation on where to purchase them from?

We make some smaller Lithium Batteries that should work but need the dimensions of sizes of the stock batteries to make certain on fitment. They will be more expensive than the Lead/Acid versions but give you a much longer lifespan, better starting and have protections features so they can't be damaged by over-discharge like lead/acid batteries will be. YOu can reach out to us at scott and chad at antigravitybatteries.com via email.

Depends if your 71 is in good shape and you enjoy showing it off at cars and coffees or the occasional zone concours:
- Go to your Porsche dealer with your exact model number and vin. They can order 2 genuine Porsche batteries that are the OEM batteries that came with the car. Replaced mine earlier this year and the batteries arrived in 3-4 days from order.
- OPtion 2 is to go to any auto parts store and look up the batteries for a 71 T. Interstate and a couple of other brands are available.

The OEM Porsche (Moll) batteries are fine; there is no reason to go in any other direction. Several major national-level Porsche dealerships discount them heavily. Note they are shipped without acid; you will need to buy a bottle of battery acid from Autozone or somewhere.

Do yourself a favor, Either use a pair of gel Sonnenshein batteries or get a pair of AGM Miata batteries. Neither will leak. The sonnenscheins are more expensive and have to be kept on a charge maintainer.
They fit as original, the Miata batteries require some spacers.
Do a search for Lauderdale Battery or Sonnenschein for price and shipping.

I tried to get a set of Moll batteries but they were seemingly always out of stock. Pelican has them but local pick-up only.
I ended up installing a set of Odyssey AGM batteries. No fluids to leak or off-gas. I think the model number is 925A. I got mine as a kit from Patrick Motorsports. They included retaining straps and a terminal kit. There are other suppliers that carry them. They are NOT cheap. I had to put a piece of 2 x 4 wood in the front end of each battery box to take up extra room. These batteries are about the same depth as the battery box, but not as high or long. So far so good. The car does seem to start a bit easier with them. I have a '73 with stock ignition but a CD box that has been rebuilt.
