I have a question about my winshield seal. I have a leak and when I inspected it I noticed the seal is not holding the windshield tight into position...and just a little pressure against the glass will cause movement. Will a new seal correct this, or can a glass shop do something with the current seal? The current seal looks ok...but maybe it's worn out and streatched. <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Mr. Smith, does your windshield have the metal installed in the windshield seal? Without it, it will not seal properly and will leak around the corners. Is there a chance that it has the seal out of an 89+ car that doesn't use the metal trim. I tried to put one in my car last week but it didn't fit properly, I could have urethane it and made it work, but that wasn't the factory correct way. I had the metal trim and the earleyr seal on the shelf so I decided to stick with factory way. Glass, rubber seal, and trim. No glue.

I think it would be a good start. Make sure you get an OEM rubber. They are so cheap there's no reason to go aftermarket.

I suggest getting only a Porsche seal, hear too many bad things about the cheapers versions. I had mine replace when the headliner was done. When the glass came out they found some rust on some of the frame, said the might have caused some of the leaking I was experiencing. If there is rust make sure it's treated and repainted correctly.

Just something to look out for.

I have looked under the seal corner and believe that it may just be the old seal. I will order one through Pelican and have it installed.

P.S. What can I expect to pay to have the seal replaced? Or could this be a DIY job?
