Default ‘71 911T Targa Project?

Considering a local 1971 911 T Targa.

Car was tracked and hasnt really been driven in years. Carbs have been recently rebuilt and it runs. Bolt in cage and missing interior. Would likely need some body work and a respray.

Owner wants mid $30s.

Are interior parts available to restore the car?

im 6’6” tall. Would I be able to make it work?

The value/ROI isn't really there (yet?) on a full OEM restoration. All the parts are available, either hunt for originals or aftermarket. Will you do the work yourself or have a shop do it?

car: 30
paint: 30+
interior: 10-15
Engine/trans: 50
chassis: 15
Misc: 20

very rough ballparks. paint can be much, much more

Could be a good candidate for a period hot rod/fun build. Price may be strong if engine is bad.

Just getting the roll bar out completely is a big problem agree with what Spyrex says.

Seller said it was "bolt in"... I saw the bolts.

Talked to GTS Classics today about seating options and they told me that a Targa may be an issue for someone my height if I push the seating position to below the targa bar.

Thinking i'll find a coupe.

I was hoping for a fun Hot Rod to tool around in and work on slowly so the numbers posted by Spyerx may be a little high for my intent but I also assumed that the drivetrain wouldnt need too much to stay running.

You may be able to make it work with a bucket type seat set on the floor with custom brackets. I don’t think a typical s type seat will work, although, in my 71 coupe i have S type sport seats and they go back really far. Just not sure on height with the targa…

Speryx's numbers are spot on for a full worst-case resto. This car isn't worth that much. So, the question is how much of that shopping list is necessary for this car given your goals? Nobody here can answer that question.
