Default Thoughts on struts

What are people's thoughts on only replacing strut inserts verses replacing the whole strut assembly?

It’s fine unless you want a custom shock or different spindle height.

I have custom valved bilstein on mine in the stock strut.

That's the way it is usually done. Even if you have Boge struts, you can buy Bilstein inserts. Although a green Bilstein strut can only accept Bilstein inserts.

If you have Boge struts there may be a slight benefit to replace the entire strut with a Bilstein unit (rather than just a Bilstein insert), but I'm not positive how noticeable it would be, especially for a street car. And it would be expensive.

Unless they are damaged there is no need to replace. If they look like crap due to years of road crud, have them bead blasted and repainted. They will look like new and save several hundred dollars compared to buying new.

never the whole strut unless it is bent, just the insert and for a 911 bilstein is the best
