Am still running R12 but not working well now. Griffiths has a system which is $7-10 K with installation. Has anyone ever used the Zims kit? Are there any pure AC shops around? Rennaire and RetroAir do not seem very active. Anyone built their own system to good effect and could help me?
Thanks
The 87 system works just fine, unlike the earlier systems with the smaller vents. Buy a new dryer and expansion valve, and expensive r12 or high quality substitute and fix YOUR system. If the r12 is still in there you are lucky, a GOOD ac shop can evacuate it out of the system, fix the system and then add it back in. R12 cools much better at lower pressures than r134a
