So I replaced my shifter bushings and O rings in my '87 G50, and I'm wondering where the sweet spot is in positioning the shift plate upon re-assembly? It's movable, and hence, the shifter pivot point and shift rod move as they're connected to the shift plate. I didn't think of marking the bolt placement (the washers are in the way) when I took it out, so I've adjusted it twice and driven it, and it's not as perfect as I would like in either 2nd, 3rd or 4th. I know there's a "just right" position of the shift plate, but can I only find it by trial and error like I'm doing? Experienced input welcomed. Thanks.
No coupler adjustments on the G50 like the 915. Shift plate is the plate laying on top of the tunnel in the photo. Note the oval slots for the bolts, hence the "adjustability". Thanks.
oh i see ,, looks different to my setup, there definitely looks like room for a for and aft adjustment there, but i've never heard of anyone adjusting anything there. maybe pelican guys will know.
