there's not a whole lot you can do to a 2.2 that doesn't require a lot of money. If you have a T, you can upgrade to an E or S by replacing the cams and pistons but any more than that needs a new crank, rods and lots of machining, I think you might be better off to replace the engine with a 3.0 or 3.2 . or maybe just buy an SC. If you want to stick with the '70, then by all means replace the points with a Pertronix Ignitor. It won;t give you any more power, but will improve reliability. Pelican has them. Good luck.

Don;t sell the 2.2 short. IMHO the 2.2 is a way underappreciated engine. The short stroke makes for very quick revving engine, and while the longer stroke engines may produce a bit more power, subjectively they feel less eager.
That said, if you have a T, upgrading it properly to "S" specs will probably cost $6-7K in parts by the time the dust settles... ouch

If the exhaust is still stock or cheesy aftermarket, get some SSI's and a sport muffler. It'll wake up that 2.2. You could also get those big K&N open air filters on top of the Webers. All the above will at least make it seem faster!
