Default Gutting stock 87 muffler?

There has been many posts about this topic but they all ultimately show the same picture of how to modify a pre 74 muffler. Is there anyone that has a drawing or picture of the internals of the banana muffler(1987 3.2)?
And what parts do you remove?

Thanks
Scott

Do a search over at pelicanparts. I remember a discussion a few months back about gutting a SC/Carrera muffler.

I went to pelican also and I still was only able to find the same picture of the pre 74 muffler.

Mike
Can you send me the pix you have or post them?

Here is one from a 3.2L car. I'm sure that most of the Sausage style mufflers are similar.

Great picture Noel! When people talk about gutting these, do they gut everything? I have a cat bypass and am worried I will have no back pressure? I am looking into a Steve Wong chip will his mapping be able to give me the low end I will need because of losing back pressure. I am also interested in possibly putting a second pipe out the opposite side creating a 2 out. Any feedback would be great.

Thanks

I've heard of people gutting everything, but they are very loud. Worse yet, they resonate so back that you will go insane while driving. I have heard of people adding a second port and that does increase power and noise.

I imagine that you could just do a partial gut, but it really is a crap shoot as to how it was sound.

Good luck.
