Default 911 2l turbo

Hi everyone, thank you for accepting me to the great community.
have a question for minded people
i have a 2l engine in need of light rebuild and want more power out of it as 110bhp is not enough for me.
question is how hard or easy is to install a turbo to it? Is it worth it? Want to get 200-300bhp out of it. Can someone please share a posts or information.
i can build and fabricate but want to get all information first before i start doing something to it.
have plenty time as car just getting welding done and still far from being on the road

My project getting wheel tested

Welcome to Rennlist !
You have a nice project there but it's pretty unrealistic to achieve 300 hp with a 2.0l engine, as an OEM 3.2 turbo is something like 287 hp i believe ?
I would think your best bet would be to find a good 3.0 or 3.2 and start from there.Speed costs money, it's all about how fast you wanna go ...
With a lightweight car you'll benefit from every hp you can achieve but it will be expensive.
I swapped a 95 3.6 in my 89 7-8 years ago and the price of engines nowadays , if you can find one in good condition is about what i paid for my car in 2008.
Keep us posted with your progress !

Cheers
Phil

I'm in the middle of rebuilding my 2.0L race engine after damaging it by a missed shift. Built to S-spec, that engine makes about 140 hp. I agree with Phil above that your hope for 300 hp is unrealistic.

its only money... and all options are expensive. the better platform for a turbo will be an aluminum case 3.0 or 3.2. it'll be a big job and you can make much more power than you want if built well.
I'd rebuild that little 2L in a hot high revving MFI setup, screamer. own the low hp!

Possibly you are all right about it and that is the reason why I’m here to ask before i touch it. I’m grateful for all your inputs and experiences.
but i would like to have more information why my little 2l is unsuitable to be turbocharged and where is weakest areas are.
maybe with today’s approach is possible to address that and make it strong enough to support it.
my main concerns are
weak conrods
weak case and will pull out studs
not enough oil cooling to pistons
Small ports and valves
wrong cam
cooling of engine
I am sure someone done it or at least had a go
would like to hear from people like that
for the instance 2.2 flat 4 vw engine works very well turbocharged and been done many times with great success.
having extra 2 cylinders and better engineering from porsche surely should make it possible
