This miss started after I put the car back on the road last year after a bad distributor forced and engine teardown. The symptom si a hot engine miss up to 3000 rpm. Above that, it disappears and the engine pulls strong.
Under 3000, it misses and surges. The problem is especially bad when the engine is heat soaked.
I replaced the wires with a borrowed set and that cleared things up until wednesday night when it happened again. Same scenario. It did not appear until we shut the car down for a 1/2 hour and got back in.
I am running a stock 3-wire CD unit, Euro Distributor (new) with new cap and rotor, Pertronix breakerless unit, OEM coil (almost new) and new spark plugs.
...have you checked the plug ends? they can go bad in a hurry. the wires are rarely the problem. if you see any corrosion in a plug end (white or green) it requires replacement.
