Default Wilwood Brakes

Wilwood ran an ad in the February issue of the PCA Panorama, page 13 listing brake kits for 1965-1989 cars. I contacted them on February 16th and got a reply today. FWIW.

"Thank you for the inquiry with Wilwood Disc Brakes.

Unfortunately we do not have any kits ready at this time however we do have multiple in development so we recommend checking back with us in 6-12 months.

Regards,

Wilwood Disc Brakes"

Here is a photo of the ad, page 13 February Panorama.

Default Fresh Off The Press

This just came in:

Wilwood Customer Reply

Hello Tom,

We’re sorry the cart is a little before the horse here, but sometimes advertising cycles don’t line up with manufacturing the way we would like.
We appreciate your enthusiasm and will get you all of the information as soon as our product launch is ready.
I can tell you that we will have kits available with a simple caliper and pad upgrade to a caliper/pads/rotors kit, with prices ranging from $950-$1250 per axle depending on options.
Your email has been added to the database of interested customers and we will reach out as soon as we are ready.
Thanks for your interest.

Regards,
Wilwood Disc Brakes

And now we know!

Not the best first reply, but the second one works for me. I'd give them a look if I wanted brakes.

Gotta say i find the brakes on the SC outstanding. I would never dream of touching them , but full transparency, i don't track my car, perhaps that would make a difference ?

They do look nice though ...
I can't imagine the bias with four piston calipers in the front like their picture shows, i have 996TT brakes on my 89 with a Fabcar dual master
and Tilton bias adjuster and it's pretty wicked. It was darn scary before i added the dual master , but then again i tracked my car for 7-8 years with PCA.
Going to remove the Fabcar master and bias valve because my car is back to street duty and the brake pedal is too firm for the street.
I have Wilwood brakes on all the Arctic Cat snowmobiles that i owned over the years and never had any issues ...

Cheers
Phil

I've tracked my SC a lot and the stock calipers with track pads are superb (stock pads are 100% up to the task for any DE, track pads for Time Trial). Excellent feel, zero fade, and absolutely are up to the task without the bling. All one needs really (not full race mind you), and I assume are less weight than these multi-piston wunders. If I am wrong on the weight, however, that is a valid consideration. Unsprung weight is bad and should be avoided if possible.
