Default Difficulty going into reverse

The car has reverse but you have to wiggle the shifter back and fourth to get it in! Any thoughts

sometimes just happens typical Porsche trying to get it into first or reverse right away without shifting into another gear first. However check the clutch adjustment and the shifter bushings

What year and model are you working on? there are several bushings (shifter, shift rod coupler) that need to be checked for condition and then there is also the adjustment of the coupler position on the shift rod going into the trans. any of these could cause shifting issues.

On my 911/01 i had some reverse issues when engine went back in car, was simply coupler adjustment. A little movement can mean a lot of change there. And like said above that trans is happiest first then r. Or second then first.
