I was replacing the deck lid struts on my 1984 Targa and I found a vacuum line that is not connected at one end. I cannot find where it is supposed to connect, any help?

This is on the drivers side of the engine, upper left corner of the engine bay.

The lower portion connects to a larger line, but I cannot find where the upper part is supposed to connect.

 

I have the same mystery vacuum hose on my 85 ROW cab. Under the fuse box there is a metal tube about 1" long that is original to the fender (painted) that has nothing attached to it. It looks like the mystery would fit on it but the hose does not reach and I think the tube may vent into the fender well.
