Hey guys,
Brand new member here and I am hoping to get some advice on a an interesting "barn find" 1980 911SC Targa I am planning on purchasing. It is all original with just over 100k miles on it, rust free, but has not run in over two years. What are some things I should look for when inspecting it? The current owner has not tried starting it in over two years and I am told the gas tank will need to be drained and the fuel system will need to be flushed. What else should I look out for? I am new to Porsches so I am hoping to get some advice from everyone here. Thanks in advance!

Make sure it is really rust free and not that you are getting the rust for free ![hiha](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/roflmao.gif)
Look for rodent damage, take a magnet and check the panels for bondo and respray. Check the battery area for corrosion. Sitting for 2 years isnt very long. If it was running well before storage, it may not take much to get it back up and running. My car sat for about 18 years. Fuel system, brakes, and some rubber parts were about all it needed. Of course the environment of storage varies a lot.

Yeah, if it was stored in a garage with some sort of temperature control (rather than outside in all the humidity) it probably isn't too bad. You can take out the fuel sender to siphon out the fuel and get a pretty good look inside to assess the fuel tank. If it looks OK, I would probably just add some fresh fuel. You can jumper the fuel pump relay to get the pump to run and circulate the fresh fuel around through the fuel system. Then try to start it.
