Default Need an excellent referral for a PPI in Houston TX

Hi Enthusiasts,
I’m considering purchasing a 85 ROW Porsche 911 3.2 thats on consignment in Houston Tx. I’m in NJ. I have a good friend in Austin who is willing to take the three hour drive and eyeball and drive the car for me, but he is far from a car guy. Can someone give me a good recommendation for a shop that is close to
1718B W 23rd St.,
Houston, Texas 77008 to go over the car for me that has an experienced Air Cooled Tech ?
Thanks so much

Try these guys, they do the work on my 87 and are highly regarded with our local PCA groups.

Another vote for Einar. Bonus is that his shop is pretty close to the car.

I second Einar’s Garage. He was worked on my 82 SC for years and my daughter’s 07 Cayman. He knows air cooled and is excellent.

It appears that the location you mentioned is a competitor’s shop, Modern Aircooled. For what it’s worth, my daughter took her Cayman to Modern before we switched to Einar’s. I’m not sure how the logistics would work between the two.

Good luck and keep us updated.

Default PPI IN HOUSTON

I want to thank the members that got back to me.
I decided not to move forward. My reason was the popularity of ROW 911’s is not as strong as the USA models. Where US models are up more than 15% in the last year but the gray MARKET models are flat as a board. I have owned in the past a new 86 Coupe an 88 new cab and most recently an 89 Coupe I sold in 2020. I’m hoping to find a good coupe or Targa with less than 80 k on the clock at a non inflated price. My hunt continues if anyone knows of a fair deal out there please let me know.
best regards to all,
Rennman

I think most here would consider a ROW 3.2 more desirable, and there are a lot of threads here and at the Pelican Parts forum outlining all the reasons why. Values are down across the board, and does it matter anyway if you're buying the car to drive? You might be dismissing a great car for what in my opinion isn't a good reason. I wish my '84 Targa was ROW spec.

Default 85 ROW Targa

Thanks Joseph for your reply. I’m passing on the Houston car because of additional reasons beside it being a gray market model. This particular car has some body damage on the one rocker and previous substandard body work to one of the fenders and I did not want to deal with any body repair work at this time.
