which 911 to buy - 992 Carrera S or GT3 touring

I recently retired and have saved enough money plus my exit bonus to buy a new Porsche. I have been driving a 2012 Corvette Grand Sport which is very fast in a straight line but does not handle well and gets old after a few drives. Mostly in sits in my garage while I drive my daughter's previous car, a 2013 Scion FRS. I am selling the Corvette and keeping the FRS. I would love advice on which Porsche to get, a Carrera S for $146,500 (my configuration) or a GT3 Touring. at $177,000 (configurator price - I have no idea what the out the door price would be). The first likely response is forget about the GT3 because you can't get one or you will pay a huge premium but for argument sake lets say I am patient enough to wait for a GT3 if its within 2 years. I have had my deposit in for 9 months here for a Carrera S or GTS - I have no idea what the wait is here for a GT3 - but I should be able to get an S or GTS in 2023. I have never tracked a car and that won't be its primary use but maybe I should - I live in Charlotte North Carolina and we have a big Nascar race track here so maybe I could track my car someday? I will likely drive the car daily and take it up to the mountains on week-ends for spirited drives but I won't be commuting to work or have to drive this car at all if I don't want too. I am definitely getting a manual transmission. The way the car sounds is important to me. Its not a fair comparison because they cost 3x as much but I have always loved the way a Ferrari sounds especially at high RPMs. Which model should I get? Thank you for your input.

If you can get a GT3 Touring for $177K no matter if it's a 992 or 991.2 run don't walk to close that deal. I've heard the waiting list for a GT car at Hendrick is over two dozen deep at this point so getting any new GT car is likely a stretch anytime soon unfortunately.

thanks for your reply - the GT3 price was the price from the Porsche configurator. I gather from your comment the street price is nowhere near that. Shows how new I am at this ha ha

Hi ! I read your post and would like to give you my opinion. You NEED to get a manual GT3. I own a GT3 Touring and a GT3 RS, just sold my daily 992 Carrera. There is no comparison, the sound a GT3 makes is like no other. I also love ferrari sounds like the 355 ect. The GT3 is even better, also the power delivery and the 6 speed just make it an amazing machine. The Carrera is a great gar until you drive a GT3. On the touring I have the Akra headers and muffler which is not that loud but just perfect. On the RS I have Akra the headers and the sport pipe which is louder and great fun. I really hope you end up with a GT3 for your Retirment
))) Is a 991 GT3 out of the question ?

Your 2 cars are wildly different and a GT3 touring will cost double OTD what a C2S will. A GT3 is a track car, even the touring, in the way that it rides/is set up. If you don't want a hard, noisy ride, don't buy one.
If you're dead set on a 992, buy a C2S, it's the best value and most flexible of all the models in the lineup and will save you well over $100k.
