Default Storing 911 (Photos)

Hi,

Can anyone recommend any cover for my 911 that will keep the car protected through the colder months (I'm based in Ireland)? As per photos below, I have the car in my garage, but unfortunately the garage is not very suitable for older / classic cars, as it is not air tight, heated or double glazed.

I was thinking maybe there is some special heated / ventilated powered cover that you can wrap the car in?

Any suggestions or tips that I could try? Thanks in advance for your help.

that's a beautiful 911 and garage. any indoor cover should be fine. these cars aren't going to mind the cold in Ireland, now if you lived in Antarctica it might be a different story.

CarCoversFactory.ca
I purchased one of their top of the line covers two years ago for my 89 911 and the quality
and fit is outstanding. It's not a generic one size fits all model , but truly made to fit a 911.
My 911 is parked outside from May until October and this cover does what it's supposed to do , i imagine
for indoor parking it would be even better.Have a look at their website , i believe my cover is their seven layer model.
For what it's worth, my 911 spends the Winter outside parked in the race car trailer where the temps in Quebec easily go below -25C , while the race car
sits on my lift in a warm garage for the cold season. You don't need a heated cover ...

Cheers
Phil

Agree. My California-garaged 911 is so jealous now.

My grandfather once built a lovely glass garage, so many birds died crashing into the windows my grandmother made us glass wax all the windows so they would be opaque.
As for storage, pump the tires up to 50lbs, change the oil and fill the tank up and add fuel stabilizer.
The only thing that hurts a car in storage is humidity, make sure you are below 70% or so.

i have stored my car in unheated cement floor garage for over 15 years without issue . I use a cotton breathable car cover . It needs to breath and not trap moisture, all you are really protecting from is incidental contact and dust and dirt settling on it. nothing more is required.

The problem that I've found with car covers over the years is that if the car is not 100% clean when you put the cover on, some of that dirt gets imbedded into the fabric of the cover. When you multiply that out over time, it can end up being a significant amount of dirt. Many of the car covers have elasticized corners that require that the cover be pulled across some of the painted surfaces of the car for fitment. That friction combined with the accumulated dirt can cause paint scratching.

You may want to consider just using a couple of cotton sheets draped over the car. They will block out the particulates / dust, and can be easily washed.

carpet the floor so it will not wick moisture, install a heater and keep the temp at 58 degrees, and cover with a flannel car cover

Slightly off topic but I'd consider getting a set of tyre cradles 👍
