Attached is a picture of the flow. Note that no fresh air (fresh air fan) will come out of the left an right a/c vents. this is an error. Also, this is for the 1986 and later so your 85 might be slightly different.

Gee that's Ian's pic from many many years ago .. glad to see it still making the rounds.

From what i have read about this system the thermostat often goes bad in these systems apparently it hangs up high somewhere >> maybe others did comment about it but i didn't see it in a quick scan.

Well, apparently the heater relay in the engine compartment is bad. I am told it is not available from Porsche. So, where can I get a new heater relay? As always, I appreciate the help!

Thanks

Would still like help identifying/locating the applicable fuses and relay(s).

Thanks again.
Having a similar issue as you with my 85. Any chance you could post a link to the blower thread you mentioned?

I will be happy to post the thread if I can find it. In general, I remember it said to remove the carpeting from the driver and passenger side footwells inside the car and the blowers would be visible. I haven’t done it. I took my car to a local mechanic. He substituted a blower relay from another vehicle for the one in my engine compartment and the blowers worked.

I will post the thread if I can find it.

Thx

I couldn’t find if, but this thread looked pretty helpful:

“Automatic Heating Control Not Functioning”

I can’t seem to copy and paste the thread. Apparently, I am technologically challenged as well as mechanically challenged!

Good luck!

@Skidog214 Got a link below but thanks for the reply. I'm looking forward to tracking this issue down. Not a mechanic by any means but I can use a volt meter and swap a fuse so hopefully that's all that's needed. lol

Follow up question—-I noticed that when I lift the center heat levers, the blower fan in the rear engine compartment blows even if the key is off/car not running. Is that normal? Seems like it would be a good way to kill the battery if one was not careful.

I read the entire thread, but I don’t see that it addresses my question. Should the heater blower in the engine compartment run even when the key is off?
