Hello.. have an opportunity to pick up an 84 911 cab 3.2 chiffon white with 76k miles, car has been sitting for about 2 years. Straight body, no accidents, good service records from 1987 onwards, 2nd owner, Decent paint, decent interior, owner starts it up every 2 weeks on a battery tender, tires look like flat spots are present, smoked when I started it so I shut it off after 10 seconds.
Looking to see where values are on Cabs. Some quick pics.. bad lighting inside garage.

Too expensive. Terrible shape. You better pass on it.

P.s. can you send me seller info?

Check out prices on bring a trailer. In general cabs are way cheaper than coupes. Nice car except I am not a fan of starting a car without driving it for a while to eliminate condensation in the oil. Tends to acidify the oil and eat bearings.

i have a 89 Cab that i paid $59,000 for in Jan of this year. It had 92k miles on it and had only been driving 9000 miles in last 18 years or so...
I buy cars to drive them....needless to say my car was not happy when i started putting some miles on it. It spent a little time in the shop sorting out a few things but now that it is sorted.....it is great. I have put 8000 miles on it since March!
Mine did have plenty of recent work when i bought it.....all new brake system. New suspension and front end work. New alternator, battery and voltage reg.....New clutch, new plugs, wires and distributor.
I would plan on $2000- $3000 worth of sorting for sure. Car looks nice. How much? I would say if less than $50k it not a bad deal.

Smoking may be the result of oil dripping into the heat exchangers from valve cover/oil return tubes gaskets. If you like it buy it. You may not find another one. Love my 87 cab!

Agreed......with no driving the valve stem seals get hard and you will get oil seeping by the seals. It would not be uncommon to get some smoke at start up. My guess would be that it would burn off. If my car sits a week with out being driven,i will get a few stop lights of smoke at idle. After about a half mile it is usually gone. If i drive it everyday it rarely smokes at all. Go for it...

Default 3.2 Cab sales averages 2018-2022

Here is the historical data to 2021 of the major auctions sites. Price includes buyer's premium if applicable. Both 915 and G50 combned. No outlaws, turbos or slant nose cars, standard 3.2 cabs including M470 and M491s Started as COVID time-killer!

84-89 911 Sold *Average Sale % Change Unsold Unsold Rate
2021 52 $59,035 19.0% 9 17%
2020 32 $49,409 49.1% 12 27%
2019 10 $36,458 -33.1% 6 38%
2018 14 $49,571 45.9% 5 26%
2016-17 9 $33,974 5 36%

The table below is for the 2016-2021 years:

All Years Sales Average
G50 72 $53,034
915 45 $49,268
ROW 13 $49,447

2022 Results so far G50 only:

If you count all sales including the Bonhams-type bunch and the Stephanie Powers sale the average is $69,337 for 28 sales.

If you exclude the Bonhams-type auctions and the $140,000 Stephanie Powers car the average is $62,774 over 21 sales.

The last 11 sales in 2022 of regular G50s average $64,628 which suggests the market is moving up but the sample size too small.

I hope this helps. Buy it, you will not regret it and yes, you will spend money on it.

Oh wow, great responses. I really really appreciate it. I have contacted the seller today and made an offer, he will think about it and I should know by Saturday if this car is mine or not.
Appreciate taking the time to school me on the values

You've already made your offer, but I would not assume prices are going up as fast as they were, and, according to a really good restoration shop near me, may have already crested. I would also count on spending much more than $2-3K for sorting. Shop rates have gone crazy, even in the last few years, and parts - already expensive - have as well. Many are NLA, and it's getting harder to source some. Costs are not what they used to be. My impression is BaT is priced especially well for sellers, not for buyers, and is very sensitive to low mileage (I'm not, these cars are better when driven, I'd want 76K or even more). I'd check Pcarmarket for somewhat more realistic prices. Having said all that, sure, I'd buy and I'd pay a bunch for it. Not having seen it, no more than $60k seems right to me, certainly if I planned to drive it forever. Always best to buy the best example you can afford, but here are other cars out there.

I'm putting serious money into mine, but I'm not assuming I'll make money on it. I'm just thinking that the cost will be spread out over the years until I die. YMMV.

As of the moment, what appears to be a VERY good car at $58. I like the badges on your car, suggests to me the current owner loves it and took care of it.

I agree with @#qtrfoil that BAT c 3.2s are the most pricey. Also, I bought mine about 18 months ago on the PCA Mart for 47 and have put at least 8k and I am not done.

Did you make the offer contingent on any kind of inspection? We all expect to spend some money on all of these old cars once we get them, but I'd want to rule out having to do a top end, head studs, or a gearbox rebuild straight away, as all of those can take the wind out of a pretty good deal in a hurry.

First place I'd sell and the absolute last place I'd buy.

make sure that the car wears its original factory finish, and if so you cannot go wrong, it is typical that 911 engines smoke on startup. The 3.2 models were also notorious for wearing out valve guides but this only happens after 100 thousand miles. It will need a complete and comprehensive service from sitting so long , and the cable clutch and 915 and meager ac system (as compared to the 87-89 models) mean that you should pay about 45 for it
